Admissions

The decision about the nature of the educational program a family provides its children clearly merits thoughtfulness and deliberation. At Hebrew Academy, we welcome inquiries from families who want to provide their children with the best the Capital District has to offer in secular and Judaic studies, set in a nurturing environment infused with Jewish values.

Please read our FAQ for more information and to download Admission forms.

All Jewish Affiliations Welcome
Our common denominator is an interest in a high quality of education as well as a strong grounding in the richness of Jewish life. Therefore, we attract students from Orthodox, Conservative and Reform Jewish homes.

Special Needs
Hebrew Academy welcomes all Jewish children to its program. We work to accommodate children with special education needs by providing on-staff support and support through the student's home school district.

School Visits

To facilitate the admissions process, we are happy to provide an information package about our school. You can also speak personally with a parent to get a better understanding of the family community cultivated here at Hebrew Academy.

In addition, we encourage you to visit our campus and see, first hand, the outstanding educational experience we offer.  We welcome visits from prospective families any time during the year. It is best to call ahead to schedule an appointment so that we can better plan for your visit. You will be able to tour the school and meet with our Head of School and our curriculum coordinators of Judaic and General studies.  We think you will also benefit from observing classes in action.

Please call our office at 482-0464 or email us at hacd@hacdalbany.com and we will be happy to send you information about Hebrew Academy and to schedule your visit.  Please go to expedia.com for driving directions.

Open Houses

Open Houses are scheduled throughout the year, usually held in the morning. Prospective parents receive tours of the school and an opportunity to meet our teachers and to observe classes. These Open Houses are publicized in the local Jewish press and we notify local rabbis, synagogues and nursery schools of their occurrence. In addition, if you have called for information about the school, you will be notified by mail or phone of up-coming events.

K'Ton Ton - our special Kindergarten Open House

We expect to hold K'Ton Ton on a Sunday in March at the Hebrew Academy. Prospective kindergartners and their parents can enjoy a morning at the school, participating in a program with our exceptional Kindergarten teachers.  Parents also have the opportunity to visit with school administrators and lay leaders who will gladly answer your questions about Hebrew Academy.
